Brian Wynter, O.J.
Brian Wynter is a distinguished financial professional with decades of leadership in both global and Caribbean financial institutions. As a descendant of one of the founding shareholders of the St. Vincent Cooperative Bank, he maintains a legacy of stewardship and excellence. His family continues to hold shares in La Fleur Bancorp, underscoring their commitment to the institution’s growth.
He holds a BSc (Economics) Honours from the London School of Economics, a Graduate Diploma in Law from the City University of London, and a Master’s in International Economics from Columbia University. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales and is an enrolled attorney in Jamaica.
Mr. Wynter’s career includes international experience with Chase Investment Bank and Schroder Wertheim in New York, followed by key leadership roles in Jamaica's financial system. He served as Director of Investment at NIBJ, General Manager at Mutual Security Merchant Bank, and Vice President at Citibank N.A. He was appointed Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, then Technical Advisor to the Minister of Finance, and later became the inaugural Executive Director of the Financial Services Commission.
In 2009, he was appointed Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, where he led transformative reforms and was awarded the Order of Jamaica in 2020. In February 2025, he was appointed Commissioner on the Jamaica Integrity Commission.
